As active asanas tone the body, pranayama tones the mind. Pranayama: Prana (breath or life force); Yama (restraint or control).
Learning to watch the breath teaches us to concentrate the mind, and learning to concentrate for an uninterrupted period of time brings the mind to a state of quiet inward focus – meditation.
In this class we will practice a series of asanas
that are quiet, restful, and opening so that we are ready to watch and work with the breath.
